House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees Schedule of Regional Public Hearings on the Governor’s Proposed 2010-12 Biennial State Budget and Amendments to the 2008-10 Budget

Section 2.2-1510 Code of Virginia requires the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees to conduct regional public hearings on the proposed state budget prior to each regular session of the General Assembly. Shown below is the schedule of hearings to be held prior to the 2010 session of the General Assembly. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact committee staff at (804) 698-1590 (House) or (804) 698-7480 (Senate). Persons wishing to speak should sign up with the committee staff on-site on the day of the hearing, beginning one hour before the beginning of the hearing.

Thursday, January 7, 2010 -- Hearings begin at 12:00 noon

        Portsmouth - (Directions, Map) Tidewater Community College -  Portsmouth Campus, “The Forum” in Building A

        Harrisonburg - (Directions, Map) James Madison University, Grafton-Stovall Theatre (map)

        Blacksburg - (Directions, Map) Virginia Tech, Graduate Life Center (formerly the Donaldson-Brown Center)

         

Friday, January 8, 2010 -- Hearing begins at 10:00 a.m.

        Fairfax County - (Directions, Map) Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale Campus (Ernst Center Theater)

         

Monday, January 11, 2010 -- Hearing begins at 12:00 noon

        Richmond - (Directions, Map) General Assembly Building - House Room D

         

The purpose of the hearings is to receive comments on the Governor's proposed 2010-12 State Budget. Those persons wishing to speak may register at each hearing site no earlier than one hour prior to the start of the hearing. Speakers will be taken in the order of registration. Each person may register only one speaker at a time. Speakers are asked to limit their comments to three minutes or less. Speakers representing groups and organizations should consolidate remarks to reduce duplication. Persons unable to attend may comment in writing to either:
