The VGEA is an advocacy organization for current, retired and future public employees in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The VGEA

· Represents the interests of public employees in matters relevant to health care, retirement benefits, competitive salaries, and appropriate protective insurance, as well as other issues of concern to members;

· Facilitates communication among public employees in the Commonwealth of Virginia;

· Serves as an information and referral source for the membership;

· Provides a forum for the discussion of ideas and problems;

· Serves as advisors to administrators of agencies of the Commonwealth when appropriate;

· Promotes high quality work performance and professionalism by all public employees to provide effective and efficient programs and services to citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Virginia Governmental Employees Association offices will be closed on Friday, July 3^rd in observance of the Independence Day holiday

VGEA is now on Facebook! We have set up a VGEA site on Facebook to help facilitate communication with our members. It will be a closed group, so you will need to be a member of VGEA to join. Website Changes

Our VGEA website has been upgraded to better serve our members. Part of this upgrade includes a Members Only area. This area is accessible only to current members of the VGEA and must be used to access our Member Services section (which contains ticket, product and service discounts available only to VGEA members), our Chapter Information section (which includes chapter organizational materials, chapter news and postings), and Foresight Online (an online version of the VGEA quarterly newsletter). If you are not a member of the VGEA and want to take advantage of these benefits, Join Now! If you are already a member, please take a few moments to set up your user name and password and then explore the Members Only area of your new website.
